Paper towel and channellock pliers. That's how I open up my oil cap every time.

Only meet this when you don't change your oil plenty. A layer of burnt oil forms on the cap that makes information technology hard to remove.

Exist conscientious, some caps have a ratcheting mechanism(similar a gas cap) to aid foreclose over tightening (I tin can't remember if the Camry does). What happens in some cases, is the mechanism tin can fail (stops ratcheting) and the cap gets cranked on. The next time you try to open it the top of the cap separates from the threads and y'all take a bigger issue. If it'southward 1 of these think about getting a new cap.
If it'due south only an ordinary cap. It's take a pick and tooth castor and clean the threads of the valve cover of gunk. Then do the same to the oil cap. If it'due south really gunky you can dab a rag in some gas to help loosen the gunk.

YMMV, I have two summertime vehicles that only gets 1 oil change a year and the oil cap comes off easily enough.

Cheers for the feedback. It looks like in that location was something in the grooves of the cap that made it stick. I cleaned everything up and information technology works fine now.
In terms of oil change routines, I change the oil every 6 months or 8,000 KM.
